Swampdogs Rugby Union NT Inc was formed in 1986 and the primary aim of the club is the development of rugby union through training and coaching. The club promotes rugby values of team spirit and sportsmanship, while striving to provide safe, quality rugby in a fun, family atmosphere. All players, families, and supporters have the opportunity to form strong friendships, develop their confidence and leadership skills, as well as nurture a sense of belonging and pride.
The club actively encourages maximum participation by all members and the dedicated volunteers are a testament to this, giving their time freely to encourage young people in the rural area to embrace the game of rugby union.
The Swampdogs Rugby Union Club is the only Rugby Union Club in the rural area of outer Darwin and has both senior and junior teams in the Darwin Club Rugby (DCR) Competition. The club caters for both junior girls and boys aged from 4 to 17, as well as senior men A and Reserve Grades as well as a womens senior team. The club also has an 'OLDDOGS' team which actively participates in masters tournaments and 'golden oldies' games for players 35 and over.
Swampdogs Rugby Union NT is a not for profit sporting organisation whose aim is to provide an environment that will allow our Rugby Union Players to become the best they can. We pride our club on being family orientated and keeping families involved in physical and healthy activities.
Swampdogs have approximately 275 Members and players.
As with all sporting clubs, we survive on registration fees, fundraising, and sponsorships to assist our players in competitions in Darwin, interstate and overseas. Over the past few years we have experienced growth in team numbers and are now looking for sponsors to help continue supporting the Swampdogs with the growth of new members and players in the rural area to achieve being the preferred Rugby code within the Greater Darwin area.
