About Us

SWAMPDOGS Rugby Union Club was formed in 1986, the primary aim of the club is the development of rugby union through training and coaching. The club promotes rugby values of team spirit and sportsmanship while striving to provide quality, safe rugby in a fun, family atmosphere. All players, families, and supporters have the opportunity to form strong friendships, develop their confidence and leadership skills and nurture a sense of belonging and pride. The club actively encourages maximum participation by all members, and the dedicated volunteers are testament to this, giving their time freely to encourage young people in the rural area to embrace the game of rugby union.

The Swampdogs Rugby Union Football Club is the only Rugby Union Club in the rural and outer Darwin region and caters to both senior and junior teams in the Darwin Competition and has been a continuous member of the NTRU for 30 years. The club caters for girls and boys from 4 to 18 years of age and is establishing a developing womens side in preparation for the 2017 season. The senior men teams plays in both the Darwin A and Reserve Grade competition and caters for men nineteen and over.

Swampdogs Rugby Union NT is a non-profit sporting organisation whose aim is to provide an environment that will allow our Rugby Union Players to become the best they can. We pride our club on being family orientated and keeping family's involved in physical and healthy activities.

Swampdogs have approximately 250 Members and players.

As with all sporting clubs, we survive on registration fees, fundraising, and sponsorships to assist our players in competitions in Darwin, interstate and overseas. Over the past few years we have experienced an increase in team numbers and rely on sponsorship to develop and progress the clubs future. We aim to support the clubs growing membership and further our professional development, so that we may be the preferred Rugby code within the Greater Darwin area.

Our current committee works tirelessly with the help of club managers, coaches and volunteers to ensure the Swampdogs Rugby Union Club remains a fun, family friendly environment with an awesome rugby atmosphere.
